Atari returns to console market with Ataribox

19 June 2017 Atari returns to console market with Ataribox

June started quite intriguingly for console lovers. American Atari, having an enormous impact on the videogame market in 1970s and 1980s, announced the development of a new product. Only recently, within the Е3 2017 event, mass media has managed to find out the concept of the announced novelty.

CEO confirmed information about their solution and said that gamers should expect release of the new game console made by Atari team. At the current stage, the console is called Ataribox but the name can be changed before release. The issue date is not yet reveled as well as any other details save for the fact that the console is based on PC technologies.

Atari’s previous console was issued in 1933 and called Jaguar. As to the novelty, besides CEO’s descriptions, one can only judge its design. Issued on June 8, the 20-second teaser shows that the device will have a wooden body with chrome-plated parts.
