Pathfinder: Kingmaker – новая RPG от компании OwlcatPathfinder: Kingmaker – a new RPG of Owlcat02 October 2018
Game developer Owlcat Games announced the release of a new RPG named Pathfinder: Kingmaker, based on the tabletop role-playing game by Paizo Inc. It was a bit of a surprise for the gaming community, so let’s review the Pathfinder game.
The Pathfinder also relies on the other tabletop game Dungeons and Dragons 3.5, released in 2009. In fact, the Pathfinder corrects the deficiencies of the original and adds its own spirit to the game.
Authors added many new details to the game mechanics with the rules in the Russian language written on 615 pages.
Pathfinder has almost no levels, where players receive no bonuses. The Dungeons and Dragons had a problem with many players receiving only additional bonuses to saving throws and attacks.
The number of character parameters was also increased and now players can update them at every second rather than third level. A great number of curses were replaced with new ones. The system of cooldowns was changed as well as some functions for classes.
Classes were partly rearranged and some of their skills were changed. A bonus was added at the twentieth level – a very powerful skill for every character. However, the main difference is that a separate universe was developed for the Pathfinder named Golarion.
The world is divided in eight continents where all kingdoms reside. The setting of the Pathfinder resembles the medieval fantasy.
The races are rather standard – humans, dwarves, elves, half-orcs, dragons, but there are also unique monsters.
There are different modules in the game such as problems of separate towns and confrontations with the local queen of the witches Baba Yaga and her son Grigori Rasputin.
Kingmaker is the sixth module of the Pathfinder, a more classical and earthbound one. Perhaps, namely for this reason, Owlcat Games decided to develop the game based on it.
The main antagonists were created by Ed Greenwood, the author of the Forgotten Realms setting, which is the most popular in the Dungeons and Dragons series.
The story revolves in the River Kingdoms, where characters fight for the throne and land.
The main task is to build your kingdom, as well as fight against trolls and neighboring countries. Developers promise that all these things were transferred from the tabletop game to its computer version.
Pathfinder: Kingmaker for PC went for sale on September 25, so you are welcome to test it.
