PR manager of WEGAME 5.0: If we manage to realize at least half of our ideas at the anniversary festival, we will significantly outperform the previous ones

25 February 2019 PR manager of WEGAME 5.0: If we manage to realize at least half of our ideas at the anniversary festival, we will significantly outperform the previous ones

The festival is celebrating its first anniversary this year. An excellent occasion to recollect all cool activities and add new sources of fun to WEGAME 5.0!

We asked the PR manager of the festival Lidiya Tsenenko to share her memories and tell about the preparation to the festival. Lidiya joined the team of organizers at WEGAME 2.0 as a journalist, and later at the time of WEGAME 4.0, she continued as a PR manager taking over the communication with the press, bloggers, and other media partners of the festival.

Make sure you read the interview until the end, where you will find a funny video invitation featuring Lidiya and Marianna de Mort (judge of the cosplay show, video blogger).

Interviewer: WEGAME.

Respondent: Lidiya Tsenenko, the festival’s PR manager (further – Lida).

WEGAME: Please, tell us how you learned about the festival. What have you memorized most of all over these years?

Lida: After the job interview at Smile-Expo (organizer of WEGAME), I had to do a test assignment – to write an announcement of WEGAME 2.0. I fell in love with the festival while I was preparing the task. Although we have many events, I was assigned to WEGAME 2.0.

I interviewed e-sports players and developers, talked to many interesting people that love games, and for the first time ever felt being connected to something so striking and large-scale.

WEGAME 3.0 was the first festival where we organized WEGAME Awards for developers. The ceremony attracted attention of indie developers and introduced interesting games to guests of the festival even before the release.

WEGAME 4.0 was also special for me and not only due to the new position. Talking to mass media reps and being on the other side of the camera during the interview was very interesting. Whereas I interviewed Marianna de Mort before WEGAME 3.0, she interviewed me at WEGAME 4.0. Overall, the festival was fantastic!

We broke all our records of attendance in 2018 and arranged a high-end stage for the show program, the one that our cosplayers deserve. There were difficulties of course, for example, problems with sound, but that is natural. More importantly, the course was set correctly.

WEGAME: What new features can we expect from the festival this year?

Lida: Oh, lots of them. We have huge plans, but if we manage to realize at least half of our ideas, the anniversary WEGAME will significantly outperform all the previous festivals.

We have already changed the structure and rules of the cosplay show giving more freedom to participants and increasing the prize fund. E-sports tournaments will also experience changes. Apart from Dota 2 and CS:GO LAN finals, the festival will offer PUBG competition for the first time ever. Moreover, we will bring Hearthstone back!

WEGAME Awards will also have a different structure: we want to pay more attention to the ceremony and provide it with more space at the festival. Besides, guests will have an opportunity to participate in quests, but we tell more about them later.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg, I cannot share the rest with you now. Instead, I can offer you to watch the video, where Marianna and I invite you to WEGAME 5.0.

WEGAME: What about the distribution into classes? Console gods, PC master race, Geeks, Oldfags, and Mobile ninja. Have the organizers already chosen their classes?

Lida: Yes, that is another zest. Classes will relate to not only festival zones but also standalone activities. Of course, the distribution is optional. But guests that opt to join some class will have much more fun at the festival.

We have also allocated ourselves to classes. I like different types of games, but I found it truly hard to choose between Mobile ninja (as I love Hearthstone) and Geeks (as I love board games). I have given my heart to the latter.

A little more about classes. We have made a video on this topic! In fact, I liked the costume of the white walker so much that I did not want to give it back to Marianna straightaway. Do not judge too strictly.

WEGAME: What else have you done for the festival? Will you share anything else?

Lida: It is unlikely I can surprise you after everything you have seen. Therefore, I will just invite you to WEGAME 5.0 held at ACCO International EC on April 20–21. This year, the festival will be especially cool, I promise you!
