TowerHex Games Developers, “Gamblers Have Created Such a Stir, Making Us Register Those Who Wish on a Separate List”08 May 2019
The two-time winner of this year's WEGAME Awards is TowerHex virtual reality game. The novelty impressed not only the members of the expert jury, but also most of the visitors of WEGAME 5.0, who voted for it.
As a result, the role-playing adventure game received an award in the Best VR Game nomination from judges, as well as the Audience Awards as the best product due to the opinion of gamers.
We had a talk with the creators of VR multiplayer, the representatives of TowerHex Games studio. They told us about the main feature of TowerHex, the importance of two versions and its availability on Steam.

WEGAME: Hi, Andrey, how are you? Can you tell us about the company in general?
А.P.: Nice to meet you! I am representing TowerHex, the Latvian development company. The game introduces joint elaboration involving both the company’s office in Ukraine and developers based in Latvia. We will develop the project with common efforts.
WEGAME: What makes TowerHex special compared to the rest similar platformers? How does it work?
А.P.: This VR game is oriented to 2 types of users, particularly the usual version and the business version. The first one is for players willing to play at home if they have the equipment required. The second one is for studios, where it can be fully realized, supplying users with more buzz.
Reason? This game is unusual: it can be adapted to any facility. We can program locations for any rooms even with hurdles. At the same time the gaming textures are implemented as accurately as possible, so that there are no injuries, players do not go beyond. But the whole buzz is in the interaction between gamers.
WEGAME: How many people can play TowerHex simultaneously?
А.P.: The game can be played by 2 to 4 users. With the help of our settings and tools, people can feel each other. Usually, when gamers play a VR game, some additional impressions are missed. After all, what is virtual reality? Brain deception (vision, hearing) and tactile sensations have been added here.
In other words, our players can not only see each other during the game, but also feel. Virtual touch of the shoulder, for instance, will be transmitted like a real one. This adds more impressions and allows you to plunge into almost one hundred percent virtual reality. When one waves a sword or spear, the second will bend down, and you can still pass objects to each other. In general, the main pleasure is the opportunity to play with friends and still fully interact in the game.
WEGAME: What stage is the project at? Is it a final version or a test version?
А.P.: Honestly, the gameplay is finished. It will be available on Steam in May, as well as press release and discounts at first. Business model is ready as well: it can be bought, being fuller featured and more facilitated.
WEGAME: What’s going on at your exhibits? How do you interact with the audience?
А.P.: We demonstrate game features. Unfortunately, we can show only the simple version here that gives a clear idea of what is happening. You can try, feel, understand physics and really immerse yourself into virtual reality. Plus, we show the experts that the game has adapted to the space provided. You can look at the process on displays, make good photos, play yourself.
WEGAME: Is the public activity high? How interested are gamers?
А.P.: There is very high activity of people, we have everything booked up minutely. There was a live queue at first, but players created such a stir that we had to register the desirous on a separate list.
WEGAME 5.0 is just fantastic, I really liked the organization: from negotiations to the performance in place. Everything’s perfect. The event atmosphere is cool, of course. I like cosplay most of all – it is gorgeous.
