On April 8-9, Kiev Art-zavod Platforma hosted the most anticipated spring gaming festival – WEGAME 3.0! Fans of computer games, cosplay and innovative technologies spent together incredible weekend, established interesting contacts and found out lots of new information related with their hobbies from invited experts. The event was organized by Smile-Expo. Interkassa was a lanyard sponsor and NLO TV channel was a general media partner.

Internet Support was provided by Ruckus Wireless, which Smart Wi-Fi technology allowed all WEGAME 3.0 participants to use high-quality wireless network.

Festival demo zone

WEGAME 3.0 stands and activities involved more than three dozens of brands. Samsung Electronics Ukraine, an exclusive festival partner, prepared a comfort space with mobile and VR games for attendees, and the best gamers obtained pleasant gifts. Besides, its stand allowed visitors to test and duly appreciate Quantum Dot curved gaming monitors LC27FG70FQIXCI.

The stand of HyperX brand, an eSports tournament sponsor, also drew lots of attention, offering everyone to set up a perfect computer. Both kids and adults were enthusiastically passing all stages of quests in order to get a deserved reward. HyperX provided computer game fans with other interesting entertainments, as well.

Open lectures

Two-day lectures involved Ukrainian and foreign experts in game development, eSports and cosplay. Totally, there were 12 presentations on the most relevant topics.

John Juke (GameTree), Wojciech Pazdur (The Farm 51), Roman Samchuk (ITVDN), Pavlo Lenets (Arrible VR), Artem Samoylenko (Uni-Bit Studio Inc.) and Alexander Blagodarenko (Uni-Bit Studio Inc.) told the audience about games development and monetization.

The eSports issue was revealed by Pavlo Kovalenko (Anima Unity), Dmitriy Makarov (Zlodei.team), Yevgeniy Shabalkin and Dmitriy Lut (IMPULSE LAB).

Pushkar (Igromania.ru) explained how gamers can earn on YouTube, and Nikolay Yakovenko revealed the history of game consoles. Lectures also included the presentation of Ren ‘Juicy Juice’ Gazar (CosWave) dedicated to cosplay realities.

WEGAME VaultCup eSports tournament

Exciting two-day LAN CS:GO, Dota 2 and LoL tournaments took place at WEGAME 3.0. The official sponsor of WEGAME VaultCup eSports competitions was American HyperX brand, and VAULT was the organizer of these contests.

Winners were determined and awarded after the range of challenging fights. The best CS:GO team was GYMORUSTU. Podval team won Dota 2 matches. And Vault Team got the gold medal in LoL discipline.


WEGAME FIFA17 CHAMP eSports tournament was organized and held by eSports Dynamo Kyiv and ESFU. Around six dozens of skillful players were competing in FIFA17 on consoles in order to prove their superiority in favorite discipline. The winner was an eSports player under a nickname CrazyInLove, the second place was taken by Adleror, the third and fourth places were shared by Phoenix and Rain_FG.


It was the first time that awarding of game developers – WEGAME Awards – took place at the festival, but judges consisting of experienced game development experts perfectly coped with their task and selected leaders in 10 nominations among dozens of worthy projects.

The best game was Varenje by Komar Games and the best indie game was Sayri Adventure by Vidloonnya Reborn team.

Cosplay contest

The cosplay contest traditionally became the biggest highlight of the festival. NLO TV youth channel was a partner of the cosplay zone. Participants showed their spectacular costumes, acting the parts of popular game, literature and TV characters. Their performances were marked by such eminent judges as Marianna de Mort, Ren ‘Juicy Juice’ Gazar and Alexander ‘Teranit’ Mayuri.

Alina Kokhan, cosplaying Newt Scamander from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie, became a winner in the aged 12 to 17 category. Irina Kukhar as Jillian Holtzmann from Ghostbusters comic won in the Comics & Fiction category.

Superiority in the Movies, cartoons and serials nomination was taken by a cosplayer with the nickname Furuko Yoiko in the role of Blair from Soul Eater anime. Oksana Sherstuk as Pharah from Overwatch game won in the Videogames category.

But wait, there’s more! Alexander ‘Teranit’ Mayuri determined two more contest participants and personally encouraged them with money prizes. The lucky ones were Alisa as Amy Rose from Sonic Generation game and Wika Simpson cosplaying Mercy (Angela Ziegler) from Overwatch.

WEGAME 3.0 festival will stand out in the minds of attendees and participants for a long time due to its festive and comfortable atmosphere. Smile-Expo will try its best to make next events even more impressive and outstanding. Wait for WEGAME 4.0!
